Cravebound: Dungeon Escape

Instructions/Controls
WASD / Arrow keys - Move character
Left click/Space bar - Swing sword, towards your mouse cursor
'M' key - (De)Activate dungeon map
Stand by the anvil in the centre to repair your minecart - when it is fully repaired, you can escape the dungeon! However, cravings for certain types of monster meat will distract you from your work, making you less effective. Hunt down the monsters specified at the top of the screen to increase your efficiency again!
Hurry to repair the minecart before the time runs out!
Development
My original idea was for an Overcooked style recipe craving system - where there would be multiple monsters required per 'craving', along with a time limit to fulfil it otherwise the player would lose health.
In the end due to lack of time/know-how, I settled on individual monsters for each craving, but that not fulfilling them reduced the players' effectivness to repair their minecart.
Overall a great theme and a fun jam to take part in!
Updates:
19/03/25 Post Trijam judging period:
- Added a main menu
- Added difficulty options 'Easy' and 'Hard' mode, with 'Hard' being the original game and 'Easy' having extended time and a weighted spawn system favouring easier to kill monsters. Additionally, in easy mode cyclops are reduced to 2 hitpoints.
- Fixed a bug where killing multiple monsters in the same frame sometimes didn't register as clearing more than 1 craving
- Corrected shader compilation (was working for the blood effects, but not for the anvil sparks upon initial release)
- Added control text above regarding map functionality (I'm so embarrassed that I forgot to include mention of it in the first place)

NAHHH My guy our here making vampire survivors in 8 hours, very polished game! Overcooked Style is such a unique idea I would like to see it executed for sure

This is really really awesome! Even for 8 hours, I love the level of polish. It fits the theme, gameplay is hard but nice. The balance could be a little more forgiving (I was only hunting monsters and could not repair my minecart), but all in all I love it!
Thank you for playing and for the feedback! I struggled a bit with the balance and might update it post-jam judging to introduce an easy mode option - a lot of feedback has been around the difficulty!
